Although Website Baker was designed with the goal in mind to enable its users to produce websites with ease, the terminology used may be confusing at the beginning. Therefore the most important terms are explained consecutively.

Frontend

The frontend is the area of your homepage visible to the public. It provides the content to the visitors of your  homepage. You can access the frontend via the URL specified during the installation process, e.g.: http://domain.com, or http://domain.com/wb.

Backend

The backend provides the adminstration interface of your homepage. Access is granted to registerd users (e.g. editor, adminstrator) only. The backend is password protected to keep out unauthorised people. The backend provides functions to change settings, to add and change the contents of your homepage...

You can access the backend by appending the prefix /admin to the URL specified during the installation process, e.g.: http://domain.com/admin, or http://domain.com/wb/admin.

Add-Ons

Add-Ons are used to extend the basic functionality of Website Baker. Add-Ons fall into the three main categories: Modules, Templates and Language files. Visit the official Website Baker Add-Ons Repository, which provides numerous Add-Ons to extend WB.

Modules

Modules allow the integration of new features like a Guestbook or a Image Gallery. Modules are split into three main categories: page type modules, admin tools and code snippets. Further details about the different module types can be found in the section Developer Guide.

Templates

Templates control the frontend appearance - and some of the frontend functionality (e.g. search or login form) of your homepage. Four templates are provided with the default WB installation. More than 50 additional tremplates can be found on the Add-Ons Repository.

Language files

Language files allow you to change the language of your site's pages such as login form text, as well as the language used in the Admin area (backend). More than 20 language files for various languages can be downloaded from the Add-Ons Repository.
